The Forum and the Palatine: two ways in
The Roman Forum, the Imperial Fora and the Palatine Hill share one ticket area next to the Colosseum. You can enter with a Colosseum ticket, which includes one entry to the area, or with a separate Forum Pass SUPER that does not include the Colosseum. Both cost €18 for adults in 2026, so the choice depends on whether you want the Colosseum on the same ticket.
For every temple, arch and route in detail, see our separate Roman Forum guide.
The area opens at 9:00 a.m., half an hour after the Colosseum. This is an independent guide, not the website of the Colosseum Archaeological Park. Prices are those listed in 2026, and rules and open sites change, so check them when you book.

Which ticket gets you in
Adult prices in 2026. Reduced entry is €2 for EU citizens aged 18 up to their 25th birthday.
| Ticket | Price | Includes | Time slot |
|---|---|---|---|
| Forum Pass SUPER | €18 | Forum, Imperial Fora, Palatine and available SUPER sites; no Colosseum | None; valid on the day of use, and usable within 30 days if bought online |
| Standard Colosseum ticket | €18 | Colosseum plus one entry to Forum and Palatine within 24 hours before or after | Colosseum slot is mandatory |
| Full Experience tickets | €24, or €32 with a guided visit | Colosseum with arena (and underground on one ticket) plus Forum, Palatine and SUPER sites once; valid 2 consecutive days | Colosseum slot is mandatory |
If the Colosseum is already on your list, the standard ticket gets you both for the same €18. The Colosseum page explains the ticket types. If you have seen the Colosseum before or have no slot, the Forum Pass SUPER needs no time slot and lets you decide when to arrive.

Entrances and how to choose
Five entrances are named for the area.
Via Sacra at the Arch of Titus
This is the natural choice when you come from the Colosseum. The Via Sacra then leads you through the Forum.
Four more entrances
The other named entrances are Largo della Salara Vecchia, Via di San Gregorio, Via del Tulliano and Via del Foro Romano. The area is large, so pick the entrance closest to where you start and where you want to end.
Trajan's Column
The old entrance at Trajan's Column cannot be used any more, so do not plan your route around it.
A route through the ruins
Go from the Colosseum side, then climb.
A simple sequence works: enter at the Arch of Titus, follow the Via Sacra through the Forum, then climb the Palatine Hill. The Palatine has the ruins of the Domus Augustana and paths between them. From the hill you look back over the Forum and across to the Circus Maximus.
The area is large and uneven, and the time it takes depends on how much you read and photograph. As a planning guess, not a measured time, allow about two hours for the Forum and the Palatine together, more if you add the SUPER sites. Queues and the walk from the Colosseum are not in that figure.
You get one entry. Do not plan to leave for lunch and return, because the standard ticket allows a single entry to the area. Bring water and eat before or after. From the Colosseum, the Pantheon is 1.8 km away, about 21 minutes on foot.

SUPER sites and what is closed
Extra rooms and houses with their own rules.
Limited capacity
Access to the SUPER sites is open up to a capacity limit. It begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends one hour before the park closes.
House of Augustus
It is closed on Mondays. If your day in Rome falls on a Monday, do not count on it.
House of Livia
It is listed as closed for restoration. A list of included sites is no confirmation that each one is open on your day, so do not build the plan around a single room.
Closing time
The park closes earlier in winter. From 25 October 2026 to 28 February 2027 the Colosseum closes at 4:30 p.m., so start the Forum before the afternoon and check the current closing time for the area.

Roman Forum: frequently asked questions
Do I need a separate ticket for the Roman Forum?
Not if you buy a Colosseum ticket. All the Colosseum tickets listed here include one entry to the Forum and the Palatine. If you only want the Forum, the Forum Pass SUPER costs €18 in 2026.
Do I need a time slot for the Forum?
The Forum Pass SUPER needs no time slot. The Colosseum part of a combined ticket does need one.
Can I leave and come back?
No. The standard ticket allows a single entry to the area. Plan food and breaks before or after the visit.
How long does it take?
There is no fixed time. As a planning guess, allow about two hours for the Forum and the Palatine, and add time for the SUPER sites and for queues.
Can I add the Vatican to the same day?
Not reliably. The Vatican needs its own day because of security queues and the size of the museums. See the guide to things to do in Vatican City and the page on getting to St. Peter's Square.
